We are used to the idea that the Internet is a world without borders, but entering the online market in China is a real challenge. It is not only the language that is a significant barrier, but above all the fact that no Western website is visible in China. There is the so-called Chinese Fire Wall (The Great Firewall of China). In addition, Chinese Internet users are radically different from Western Internet users. They use their own search engine Baidu instead of Google, they have their equivalent of Facebook – facebook.com, YouTube – youtube.com and all the other portals we use in the West.
I have been in the eCommerce business since 2006, constantly experimenting and learning from my mistakes. I started my adventure with the Chinese market by working with companies in Hong Kong. For more than two years I organized online sales to China for a Hong Kong diamond jewelry manufacturer. I also worked as an IT business consultant for Capgemini and BMW project in China, bridging the gap between German business and Chinese IT.
I created EnterChina in 2016 because I am convinced that the Chinese can be the customers of Western companies, and that money can flow to us from Asia instead of flowing away.
